IDEX

2025 – 2026

Bordeaux, FRANCE

IDEX is developing a large-scale district heating network covering several communes in the south of the Bordeaux Métropole. This project includes:

  • An off-road network powered by a biomass boiler and a backup gas boiler.
  • An intra-road network combining biomass, deep geothermal energy and a backup gas-fired heating plant, and a plant for treating drinking water.

One of the major challenges is to align the regulatory requirements of the Environmental Code (ICPE) with those of the Mining Code, which are necessary for the creation of geothermal wells.

As an engineering and administrative department, we carry out the following tasks:

  • Complete drafting of the technical, administrative and environmental documents of the Environmental Authorization Application Dossier (DDAE) for the intra-road network;
  • Integration and consolidation of specialist studies, including elements related to the mining title for geothermal wells;
  • Internal implementation of health risk assessments and fire modelling;
  • Development of the ICPE declaration file for the off-road network.
Challenge

Ensure smooth coordination between the environmental, technical and mining dimensions of the project.
