The setec energy environnement brand setec vivon, Dedicated to ecology, biodiversity and the marine environment, organizes the 3ᵉ edition of the Marine Ecology Day (JEM). This 2026 edition will focus on a topic at the heart of current scientific, environmental, and societal issues: Better share and valorize the environmental knowledge acquired at sea so that it can be reused more widely for the benefit of research, the preservation of ecosystems, and the sustainable management of maritime activities.

Every year, thousands of observations on marine species, habitats, and ecosystem functioning are collected as part of environmental studies and ecological monitoring carried out for projects at sea and on the coast. These data constitute a valuable resource for better understanding marine environments, monitoring their evolution, and informing public decisions or development projects. Yet, much of this knowledge remains difficult to access or reuse beyond its initial purpose.

Recognized actor in marine ecology and environmental monitoring, the brand setec invivo For many years, it has been contributing to the production of this knowledge on behalf of public and private actors. Faced daily with the challenges of disseminating, interoperating, and valorizing these data, the team is developing new tools and methods with its scientific partners to facilitate their sharing and reuse.

The Marine Ecology Day 2026 aims precisely to bring together the various producers and users of this knowledge in order to collectively reflect on ways of better putting them at the service of the general interest.

In continuity with the work undertaken within the framework of the joint laboratory developed between setec énergie environnement and the National Center for Biodiversity Data (PNDB), this third edition of JEM It will focus on the conditions that make the knowledge derived from environmental studies and monitoring more accessible, more shareable, and more useful to everyone.

The objective is to promote better circulation of knowledge between scientific communities, managers of natural spaces, design offices, industry, public decision-makers and the general public in order to strengthen understanding of ecosystems, improve the quality of decisions and contribute more effectively to the preservation of marine environments.

At the heart of the exchanges will also be how to make this data more easily identifiable, accessible, interoperable and reusable, in accordance with the FAIR principles that today structure the approaches to sharing scientific knowledge.

Nearly one hundred participants are expected for this third edition, which will bring together the main communities producing or using marine environmental data.

The discussions will be structured around three round tables:

  • Researchers and managers of protected marine areas ;
  • Private actors: industrialists and design firms ;
  • Public decision-makers and users.

These cross-eyed glances will help identify the needs, expectations and levers of action to improve the valorization of the environmental knowledge produced at sea and strengthen their contribution to research, public action and the preservation of biodiversity.

Through this third edition, the setec invivo brand wants to promote the emergence of concrete solutions that allow for better exploitation of the wealth of data already acquired and to strengthen the dialogue between science, technical expertise, territorial management and public decision-making.

At the end of Marine Ecology Day, setec energy environment and its brand setec invivo They will officially inaugurate their new premises in Concarneau in the presence of their employees, partners, clients and representatives from the local community.

With 60 employees dedicated to ecology, biodiversity and the marine environment, setec invivo Today, it is one of the leading French teams in the fields of knowledge of natural environments, environmental monitoring and regulatory studies. Its experts support numerous structuring projects for territories and the energy transition, including: DGEC Bretagne Sud, Oléron 1 and 2, Northwest Brittany, South Gulf of Gascogne and GILA, Future underwater electrical interconnection between the Gironde and the Loire-Atlantique regions.
