SITTOM-MI

2022 – 2028

Pontivy, FRANCE

The SITTOM-MI It owns an Energy Valorization Plant (UVE) for household waste in Pontivy. As part of its project to create a second energy valorization line, SITTOM-MI aims to integrate ambitious solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Setec énergie environnement has been commissioned to study the feasibility of a system for capturing CO₂ from incineration fumes, in line with the circular economy and the fight against climate change. The study is complemented by identifying local CO₂ valorisation solutions and deploying a solution that allows SITTOM-MI to retain control over sales over the long term.

Following the study, the option of capturing 10,000t of CO₂ was chosen and integrated by setec into the specifications of the Global Performance Market (MGP), paving the way for the deployment of a capture module capable of capturing 12,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year, with a planned commissioning in 2027.

As a Technical Project Manager (AMO), we support our client in the following tasks:

  • State of the art technological and regulatory;
  • Dimensioning, installation and cost analysis (CAPEX/OPEX);
  • Mapping of the outlets and needs of CO₂ consumers;
  • Research of financing and risk analysis;
  • Technical-economic study of hydrogen production and distribution scenarios.
Challenge

Designing a technically robust, economically viable and integrable CO₂ capture solution within an already complex UVE modernization project, while paving the way for a first-of-its-kind national initiative: the first industrial carbon capture system on an UVE in France and its economic valorization within the plant’s operating territory

Key figures
  1. 10,000 t/year of captured CO₂
  2. First industrial CO₂ capture installation at UVE in France
Expertise
  1. Capture, use and storage of CO₂ (CCUS)
  2. Energy valorization
