Commune of Corsica

2020-2025

Porto-Vecchio, FRANCE

The Collectivité de Corse owns the commercial port of Porto-Vecchio. As such, a large-scale dredging of the basins must be carried out in order to guarantee access to the various vessels under optimal safety conditions.

The analysis of the bathymetry shows that to reach the -8.5 cm mark, it is necessary to dredge approximately 200,000 m³ in the port basin and the entrance to the channel.

As part of this project, setec énergie environnement assisted the Collectivité de Corse with the preliminary studies:

  • Study of the rejection of sediments at sea with the acquisition of data at sea, numerical modeling, and comparative analysis of several potential clumping sites;
  • Development of regulatory dossiers related to the project (water law dossier, dossier of impacts on Natura 2000 sites, AOT on the DPM, request for a derogation from the ban on harming protected species (if applicable), case-by-case review, impact study (if applicable)) ;
  • Technical and economic study of the project.
Challenge

Guaranteeing the accessibility and safety of the commercial port of Porto-Vecchio while reconciling the operational requirements of dredging with the preservation of sensitive marine habitats.

Key figure

2 sensitive marine herrings preserved: Cymodocea nodosa and Zostera noltei
