French Global Environment Fund (FFEM)

2022 – 2023

ALBANIA, LEBANON, TUNISIA

The French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) supports innovative initiatives that promote environmental protection and sustainable development in developing countries. As part of these efforts, the BeMed+ project has applied for funding to support practical measures to reduce plastic pollution in the Mediterranean and to promote sustainable change by involving local economic stakeholders. This project targets three areas: the Shkumbin river catchment in Albania, the coastal town of Monastir in Tunisia and Jounieh Bay in Lebanon.

The FFEM entrusted setec énergie environnement with an ex-ante evaluation of the project, in order to obtain advice that would inform its thinking. This service consists of the following elements:

  • Conducting an ex-ante assessment of the project, with a view to providing an opinion on its feasibility and recommendations to improve the chances of success;
  • Conducting field missions and interviews with local stakeholders;
  • The drafting of a «Project Engagement Note»;
  • Providing answers to the queries and recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Committee, the Secretariat and the FFEM Steering Committee;
  • Development of synthesis and communication materials for the project in French and English.
