SYCTOM

2025 – 2026

Île-de-France, FRANCE

In order to anticipate the evolution of the needs for sorting and transferring selective collections within its territory, the Syctom has commissioned a strategic study aimed at defining the number, location and design of future centres over the next ten years.

This approach is part of a context of profound changes, marked by the evolution of the regulatory framework, the transformation of waste disposal sites, and ongoing discussions about the implementation of the deposit system for packaging.

As Technical Assistant to the Project Manager (AMO), setec énergie environnement is assisting Syctom in defining a robust and forward-looking strategy for the evolution of its sorting and transfer infrastructure:

  • Identification of selective collection sites for 2035, integrating the evolution of flow patterns and sorting behaviour;
  • Analysis of the impacts of the implementation of the directive on packaging, including its non-materialized modalities;
  • Assessment of current capacities and projection of future needs in terms of sorting and transfer;
  • Development of several territorial organization scenarios and definition of the associated comparison criteria;
  • Conducting a multi-criteria analysis of the scenarios (technological, economic, environmental, social and legal);
  • Formulation of strategic recommendations to guide Syctom's choices in the medium and long term.
Challenges

Accompanying the public decision in defining a master plan for sorting by 10 years’ horizon, by integrating multiple uncertainties (regulation, guidelines, evolution of flows) and by balancing performance, cost control and adaptation of the territorial network.
