Context
The DECLYC project (Decarbonizing Lyon – Valley of Chemistry) is part of the Bas-Carbone Industrial Zones (ZIBAC) call for projects of the’ADEME, intended to accompany industrial zones towards a rapid and structural reduction of their greenhouse gas emissions.
Driven by the competitiveness pole Axelera, and coordinated with Lyon Valley of Chemistry, The project brings together the industry players in the region around a common goal: reducing CO₂ emissions by 40 % by 2030 and 80 % by 2050 (scopes 1 and 2).
The Valley of Chemistry represents a strategic pole for the chemical, energy and environmental sectors and generates 25% % of the emissions from the chemical sector. Metropole of Lyon. Being a heavy consumer of natural gas, the area is looking to replace part of this usage with biogas in order to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Lot 2 specifically aims to study the role of biogas in this territorial and industrial strategy.
DETAILED MISSIONS
We have been commissioned to carry out the following tasks:
- Map out the current and future gas consumption, and define the volumes of biogas required by the industrial companies in the area;
- Analyze the carbon accounting frameworks and define the conditions for the integration of biogas as a decarbonization lever;
- Evaluate the potential for biogas production by 2050 based on regional deposits and study the different supply methods;
- Analyzing current biogas suppliers, collective and individual purchasing strategies, and proposing recommendations tailored to each industry.
