Loire Estuary Territory, France

In a context of climate emergency and high ambitions for reducing emissions, the Loire Estuaire region is seeking to identify the levers that can be mobilized to reduce its carbon footprint, strengthen its attractiveness, and structure local energy sectors. The project is part of the dynamic of the Bas Carbone Industrial Zone (ZIBaC) Loire Estuaire, which aims to support the energy transformation of industrial and port activities.

Setec énergie environnement has been mandated to determine the extent to which biomass can meet the current and future needs of the territory.

As an engineering consultancy, we intervene on the following missions:

  • Analysis of the crude and deployable biomass deposits within a 100 km radius around the EPCI-targets (CARENE and Sud Estuaire);
  • Assessment of the associated energy potentials (combustion, methanization, pyrogasification, hydrothermal gasification);
  • Connecting these energy potentials with projected consumption in 2050 via Sankey diagrams;
  • Development of production and energy consumption scenarios adapted to the decarbonization challenges of the territory.
  • Deposit study
  • Energy valorization
  • Biomass
