PIICTO

2022

Fos-sur-Mer, France

The association PIICTO (Industrielle Plattform und Innovation Caban-Tonkin) brings together the industrialists based in the industrial zone of Fos-sur-Mer, committed to pursuing energy performance and emission reduction goals. In order to identify new opportunities for optimizing and decarbonizing processes, the platform wished to explore the potential for creating a steam network powered by the waste heat produced at the industrial sites.

Setec energy and environment, in association with DS Avocats and Ecko Conseil, was commissioned to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study, integrating the technical, economic, financial and legal dimensions, with the aim of defining a viable, attractive and evolving steam network scenario.

As a Master of Works Assistant (AMO), with recognized expertise in the valorization of energy detrimental to industrial areas, we assist our client in the following tasks:

  • Design of energy production monotypes that are fatal and needs by type of energy (hot water, steam, cold...) and study of the adequacy between production and need;
  • Development and analysis of scenarios from a technical, economic, environmental and legal perspective;
  • In-depth study of the chosen scenario and assessment of its feasibility;
  • Drafting the specifications for the following phases.
Challenges
  1. Designing a shared steam network capable of optimizing the valorization of waste heat while meeting the present and future energy needs of the industrial zone
  2. Integration of various temporalities
  3. Anticipation of the arrival of new players
