Bay of the Aiguillon, FRANCE

The’French Office of Biodiversity Setec énergie environnement has wanted to deploy high-frequency monitoring buoys in the Bay of l’Aiguillon, at the mouth of the Seudre and the Charente, equipped with a multi-parameter probe capable of measuring several physico-chemical parameters of the water. Setec énergie environnement has put all its know-how to work on the subject of environmental monitoring to support the OFB in its approach.

setec énergie environnement designed, deployed and operated a high-frequency monitoring system for water quality in the Brittany and Charente peninsulas, based on autonomous instrumented stations equipped with connected multiparameter probes. The stations ensure the continuous measurement of key physicochemical parameters such as:

  • Conductivity,
  • Temperature,
  • Pressure,
  • Turbidity,
  • Dissolved oxygen,
  • pH,
  • Chlorophyll A.

The systems are powered by alkaline batteries. The data is transmitted daily on the Proxymae web platform and accessible by all users approved by the client.

Challenge

Deploying high-frequency monitoring of water quality in order to provide the French Office of Biodiversity with reliable, continuous, and real-time environmental data and thus improve the knowledge and monitoring of coastal ecosystems.
