2024-2028

Saint-Brieuc, FRANCE

As part of the environmental monitoring of wind farm in the sea off the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, A specific monitoring program for the fishery resource is implemented within the park area and along its electrical connection throughout the entire operating phase, which is planned to last for 40 years. This monitoring will be carried out during the first three years of operation (2024 to 2026), then in 2028, before being renewed every five years as part of a future tender.

The objective is to continue evaluating the fishery resource according to protocols comparable to those deployed during the initial, baseline, and construction phases, in order to determine the potential impacts of exploiting the park after its construction.

Setec énergie environnement is implementing a long-term fisheries monitoring program intended to assess the evolution of the resources exploited within the park and along its electrical connection during the exploitation phase.

Specific scientific campaigns are carried out, using professional fishing vessels, in order to characterize:

  • The benthic species of fish and cephalopods;
  • The large crustaceans;
  • The Saint-Jacques shell and other bivalves;
  • The dunes.

We also carry out in-situ observations as a complement to scientific campaigns for fisheries where there are no or very limited observational data available. These data are analyzed in parallel with those obtained as part of the scientific campaigns.

All the protocols have been defined by setecinvivo and implemented during the previous phases. As a result, we have perfect mastery of them, from expertise to data analysis.

Challenge

To assess the long-term evolution of fisheries resources in the context of the exploitation of an offshore wind farm, producing scientific data comparable to previous studies in order to distinguish the potential effects of the park from natural variations in marine ecosystems.
